Inflation rates decrease to 41.2% annually in April-GNA

According to the Ghana Statistical Service, annual consumer inflation fell to 41.2% in April from 45.0% in March, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline. The decrease in non-food products was the cause of the rate’s decrease of 3.8 percentage points.

Between March 2023 and April 2023, there was a 2.4% monthly inflation rate. The general price level was 41.2% higher in April 2023 than it was in April 2022, according to government statistician Professor Samuel Kobina Annim.

From the previous month’s food inflation of 50.8% to the current month’s food inflation of 4.3%, the food inflation dropped to 48.7%.

Inflation outside of food fell from 40.6% in March 2023 to 35.4% in April 2023. Inflation other than food was 0.7% month over month in April.

The government statistician reported that in April 2023, inflation for goods made domestically was 38.2 percent, compared to 43.1% for goods imported.
